KMS Eighth Grade Science Learning Targets

Key learning targets are referenced to the New Hampshire Frameworks for Science Literacy

 

  1. Students are able to describe properties and changes in state of matter.

  2. Students understand that energy is necessary for change to occur in matter. Energy can be stored, transferred, and transformed, but cannot be destroyed.

  3. Students can describe through examples how the Earth and Earth materials, as we know them today, have developed over long periods of time, through constant change processes.

  4. Student recognize that the Earth is composed of complex interacting systems

  5. Students can may safe, pertinent observations and properly care for equipment in laboratory and field study.

  6. Students can find, evaluate, organize, and synthesize information from a variety of sources.

  7. Students can apply simple mathematical models to situations.

  8. Students can communicate scientifically through a variety of media.

  9. Students can identify problems; propose solutions, test and revise solutions and control variables in experimental and non-experimental settings.
