I for one, really enjoy the extra hour of sleep on the “fall-back” weekend. And this year to have the time change a week later was even better. Consider your daily habits. Does this shift help you in anyway or would it be better if it were still dark later in the morning but light a little later in the evening? Take it to the extreme. If we didn’t change the clocks at all then at what time would it get light on December 21? At what time would it get dark?

Setting the clocks forward does pretty much nothing for me, but when we set them back, it gives us an extra hour and the “wow, it’s only…” thought.
Daylight savings time really confused me last night. My mom had gone to a friend’s house at about 8:30 to pick something up for work. I had forgotten to set my room alarm clock back and thought it was 9:30, so I panicked and tried to go to sleep but couldn’t. When I went out into the kitchen, I looked at the clock and it was only 8:30, not 9:30!
i think daylight savings time is kinda stupid but it kinda makes sense after all winter in suppose to be light because of the snow!
i was really confused last night because i looked at my clock at 9:00 or so and it said 10:00! i asked my mom why it was an hour early? she said it was because of daylight savings time.
i think its a waste of time and useless!
i wonder who thought of that idea?
Kath,Do you think you could find what the actual sunrise and sunset times are supposed to be for that day (maybe online) then adjust it for daylight savings if it was not happening.
I love any extra sleep that I can get! I still get confused looking at clocks a few days after the clocks are changed because some of them are right, but most are wrong. I’ll have to check later to see what it would be like on DEC 21.
Hi Mr.Biche,
I think that it helps people to get up better, I really like the fact that its actually bright out now when I’m waiting for the bus instead of pitch black, and it always helps to have sunlight in the morning, when you wake up. I really like the fall back too!
Mr. Biche,
I was just telling my Mom about this whole internet, blogging, and comenting thig, and she thinks it’s really interesting. She was wondering if she could leave comments on the site along with us.
I’ll go try to find the December 21st light and dark times on google!
I found a website that tells us when it should get light and get dark for the united states, and for December 21 the sun should rise at 7:16am and the moon should come out at 1:28p.m. It didn’t say the time it would get dark. here’s the website if you want to try and figure it out.
That is so weird how and why does it do that. It is so weird. It is confusing….. bye

Kath,
I dug a little deeper at the link you provided. If you follow a link about defining rise, set, and twilight you can find a definition for twilight. I think that may help you.
Hey Mr. Biche
Two things. One, did you know you could make smiley faces? I just totally found that out! Two, I don’t like changing clocks back in the fall because the day goes by way slower then it should when I am at school. I do like that fact that we gain an hour of sleep though!
